Monday-Spanish

In grades 1-2 and 3-4, we began by learning a couple praise songs. We learned "Yo Tengo Gozo" (I've got the joy joy joy) and also Padre Te Adoro (Father I Adore You). Then we continued by practicing our days of the week, months and seasons. Today we began to learn about the weather and various vocabulary words and frases associated with weather. We also learned a weather song.
"¿Qué tiempo hace? Hace sol. ¿Qué tiempo hace? Hace calor. ¿Qué tiempo hace? Está nublado. ¡Hace buen tiempo! ¿Qué tiempo hace? Hace frío. ¿Qué tiempo hace? Hace viento. ¿Qué tiempo hace? Está lloviendo. ¡Hace mal tiempo!" Translated: What's the weather? It's sunny. What's the weather? It's hot. Whats the weather? It's cloudy. It is good weather! What's the weather? It's cold. What's the weather? It's windy. What's the weather? It's raining. It is bad weather!
I also began TPR (total physical response) today to help the students remember the vocabulary words. Basically we act out the words in order to help us remember what they are! The students are all doing so well and learn so quickly!!

In grades 5-6 and 7-8, we reviewed weather vocabulary using TPR (total physical response). This is where we act out the vocabulary word in order to better remember what it means. We also sang our weather song. I had a worksheet for them to work on the phrases and terms we learned. Then we ended by playing heads up 7 up using vocabulary cards.  Instead of saying the person's name they have to say the vocabulary word when guessing who put their thumb down. They are so much fun to teach Spanish to! They are very enthusiastic and always want to learn more!
