Wednesday - Spanish

1/2, 3/4: We reviewed the rooms and vocabulary for the kitchen (cocina). We then played jeopardy to practice the terms. When they chose their "question" I would say a vocabulary word in Spanish and they would have to answer with the term in English. They did quite well. Next time to make it a bit more difficult I will say the English term and they will respond with the Spanish term!

5/6, 7/8: We reviewed the vocabulary for the bathroom, garage and backyard. We then practiced some more with a worksheet and then played taboo or hot seat. They were divided into 2 teams. One person from a team would sit in the "hot seat" not facing the board. I wrote a vocabulary term on the board. Their team had to describe it IN SPANISH and the person in the hot seat had to see how many terms they could get in 1 minute. 1 point per word. We alternated between teams. They did well!

In civics we completed the section on the executive branch. We began a mini project which consists of the students learning a bit about the presidential campaigning that is going on. I had them find three presidential candidates all of which must be from different parties. I am having them include a little biography for each candidate and am having them research each of their views on the budget, education, the war, minimum wage,  immigration and gun control. After doing their research they must explain why or why not they would vote for them. Today in class everyone decided on their candidates and for tomorrow they must have the biographies completed.
