Tuesday - Spanish

Today we worked on the verb Ir (to go). We learned how to conjugate it and translated many phrases and sentences. We also began to learn clothing vocabulary. There was a matching worksheet to practice this.

Today we continued to learn about tener and the many different ways to use this verb. We did a lot of sentences together and also practiced with some worksheets.

Today we continued to work with the verb tener and its many uses! We worked together a lot and there was also a worksheet to reinforce what we learned.

We learned how to use the verb haber. We learned and practiced the "hay" form of haber. We also learned the form that uses a past participle. At the end we reviewed classroom vocabulary with a game.

5/6: We worked on adjectives some more and making sure the noun and adjective had the same number and gender. We did several together and then they worked on a worksheet to practice some more.

We did a lot of Iowa testing today therefore we did not cover many subjects.

Monday - Spanish

1/2 - We began by singing some songs (Juanito Cuando Baila and Doler de Cabeza) and reviewed the parts of the body. Then they worked on a worksheet where there was part of a sentence in English (Comb your __________) and they had to fill in the correct Spanish word. The answer for the example would be pelo which means hair.

3/4 - We reviewed parts of the body. Then they worked on a worksheet where there was part of a sentence in English (Comb your __________) and they had to fill in the correct Spanish word. The answer for the example would be pelo which means hair. We wrapped things up with some heads up seven up and they had to translate a word before guessing who chose them.

5/6, 7/8 - We reviewed ser and estar and then began adjectives. We studied the concepts together and worked through examples and then they practiced it with a worksheet.

Monday

Today we did the vocabulary and reading part one sections of the Iowa test. They also had play practice with Mrs. Folkema, Spanish, gym, and music. There is no homework for tonight unless they are still working on a previous assignment.

Friday - Spanish

We reviewed Ser and Estar today and also the differences in their use. We did a lot of sentences together as a class and then they worked individually on a worksheet.

Friday

First of all thank you to everyone who came to the science fair last night! The students really enjoyed showing off their hard work!!

After devotions we began with civics. We learned about the first 5 amendments. Afterward we applied the fourth amendment. They read a case and had to determine if the people's rights were upheld or violated. We also discussed the meaning of the fourth amendment more specifically. No homework.

8th: pages 243-245 All problems in the review.

Science: We presented our science fair projects this afternoon along with the 5th and 6th graders! They all did very well!

Today we focused on the verb "estar." We learned how to conjugate it and when to use it. We translated sentences with "estar" in it.

Monday - Spanish

We are learning body vocabulary. We sang the songs "Juanito Cuando Baila" (When Juanito Dances) and "Doler de Cabeza" (My head hurts). We filled out a worksheet and then played head and shoulders knees and toes in Spanish.

5/6, 7/8
We reviewed conjugation in the present tense, negation and irregular "yo" formed verbs. We did it together on the board and also used the white boards. I would say a verb and the form and they had to conjugate it.

We began by practicing negation a little bit. Then we began to learn irregular "yo" form verbs. They practiced with a worksheet first, and then we played heads up seven up and they had to translate the irregular "yo" forms for me.
